Your pet is a valued family member, and providing the very best care for them is simply second nature. At Creekside Animal Clinic, we tailor each vaccination protocol to your specific pet’s needs and follow guidelines set by AAHA and the AAFP to avoid overvaccination. Additionally, we have the ability to perform titer testing to measure your pet’s immunity level. If you enroll in our Free Vaccines for Life program, you can receive core vaccines at no extra cost. Our Recommendations for Your Pet

Every pet is unique, so we’ll develop a unique vaccination protocol with you to determine what they need to remain healthy. Here is a list of vaccines we offer:

Rabies
For both cats and dogs, rabies is essential. In fact, it’s required by law in Ohio, and for good reason. The disease is almost always fatal and is zoonotic, meaning it can affect your human family, too.

DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)
This core combination canine vaccine protects against four of the most common and dangerous canine diseases.

FVRCP
(Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia)
This core combination vaccine for cats protects against three contagious diseases that can cause severe illness or even be fatal.

Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
Kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection in dogs. We consider this a core vaccine, as many boarding facilities (including ours) and groomers require it.

Canine Influenza
A virus causing flu-like symptoms in dogs. We require this lifestyle vaccine for all our boarding guests.

Feline Leukemia
An incurable disease highly recommended for all kittens and only for adult cats who go outdoors.

Lyme Disease
Spread by the deer tick, this vector-borne illness can cause serious symptoms and is difficult and costly to treat. In severe cases, it can be fatal. With ticks becoming a growing problem in Ohio, we strongly recommend this vaccine for your dog.

Leptospirosis
Lepto is a bacterial infection that can affect any animal; however, your dog is most at risk. Symptoms can include fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, stiffness, lethargy, and younger animals are often more seriously affected, which is why we recommend the vaccine for all puppies.

Free Vaccines for Life Program
We strongly believe that the best way to care for your pet and keep them well is through annual preventive care visits. When you adhere to annual exams and blood work for your pet, you’re eligible for the Free Vaccines for Life program. The program covers all your pet’s core vaccines including DHLPP, DHPP, rabies, Bordetella, FVRCP and the FVRCP/FeLV combo. For more information, please contact us at (330) 825-9556.

Avoiding Overvaccination
Overvaccination is a common concern among pet owners. To avoid overvaccination, our clinic follows strict vaccination protocols that outline a three-year booster for the most common vaccines: DHPP, FVRCP, and canine rabies. We still offer a one-year feline rabies vaccine because it is safer and more effective than the three-year vaccine. Additionally, we offer titer testing to determine whether your pet has an active immune response to a certain disease or if it is weakening. In this way, we can provide customized boosters to only the pets who need it.
